Cyntia Payments

The counter and the website are the same shop.

Payments is a payment gateway with everything a shop needs built around it: a point of sale, an online store, the catalogue, the stock, the orders and the reports. The two counters are not two systems — a sale at the till and a sale on the web take from the same stock and land in the same list — and the money from both gets counted once, by method, on the same screen.

Two counters, one stock

A sale at the till and a sale on the website do exactly the same thing: they take one unit off the same number and add one line to the same list. That is the whole difference between a shop that has a website and a shop whose website is the shop.

Selling twice what you had once

A store, and a till

The online store keeps its own stock and the point of sale keeps its own. They agree on the day somebody synchronises them and drift apart from then on, and the way you find out is a customer who paid online for the last one an hour after it was sold at the counter.

Point of sale Online store 22 One number, and nothing to keep in sync

One shop with two doors

There is one number. Both doors take from it, and neither can sell what the other has already sold. Nothing has to be synchronised, because there was never a second copy to synchronise with.

Wherever the order comes in

The same order, whichever door it came through. What changes is the tag it carries, so the report can split the day by channel without anybody having to keep two sets of books.

The payment method is the last thing an order learns, not the first. Cash, card or something else, it is the same order until the moment it is settled — which is why the day can be split by method without anybody tagging anything.

What Payments is made of

A gateway underneath, and on top of it everything a shop needs so the gateway has something to charge for.

  • 01

    Point of sale

The till. It sells from the same catalogue as the website and takes from the same stock, so whoever is serving does not have to know what the site is doing.

  • 02

    Website

The storefront, built from the catalogue that already exists. There is no export and no second product list to keep up to date: what is on sale is what is in the catalogue.

  • 03

    Products and services

The catalogue and the stock behind it. Services are in there too, which matters more than it sounds: a shop that also installs what it sells used to be two systems.

  • 04

    Orders

One list, whichever door it came in through, with the state it is in and whether it has been paid. An order in progress and a finished sale are the same order at two moments, not two records.

  • 05

    Reports

The day split by where it was sold and by how it was paid — cash, card, everything else — without anybody having tagged anything, because the order already knew both.
